Originally from Waterloo, ON, Teagan Ariss is an emerging Toronto-based dance artist. She obtained her BFA Honours in Dance from York University where she trained under professional artists including Julia Sasso, Tracey Norman, and Syreeta Hector. During her final year at York, Teagan was the Artistic Director of the student-produced dance show, Bloom. As a member of the York Dance Ensemble she worked with the choreographers Susan Lee and Paulo Alcedo. In 2021, Teagan performed in a co-creation work for dance:made in canada’s inTO focus festival, alongside seven other emerging dance artists. Teagan’s introduction to Guelph Dance was through performing in the ‘Youth Moves’ series of the festival as a teenager. She has since participated in the festival’s ‘Breaking Ground’ Mentorship Program with Lina Cruz, the first edition of the Emerging Artist Intensive, and has been an enthusiastic audience member!
