NEW DEADLINE SEPTEMBER 30th!!!!

Call for Submissions: Screen Dances Series (SDS)

For the second season of Guelph Dance’s Screen Dances Series (SDS), Aria Evans, as Guest Curator, is commissioning ten individuals or collectives from Southwestern Ontario to create an original dance film which will be exhibited online.

Artists will receive a total budget of $3500 for their project with an additional $400 to go toward mentorship.

Aria is looking to program new, short (3-7 minute) dance films of all genres that highlight different voices, bodies, and lived experiences that address the intersections of movement and media to represent the diversity of what is colonially known as Canada.

We welcome a wide spectrum of filmmakers: students, professionals, from low budget to large-scale productions, alternative and independent films. Any subject may serve as inspiration and we invite any dance form(s); social or street dance, dance in religious or spiritual settings, codified dance, or non-dance images filmed so that they evoke dance, choreography, and movement in imaginative ways to apply. Primarily, we are seeking to program works that are dedicated to advancing the field of dance film through their proposals.

Submissions open on August 15th, 2022 and must be received by Midnight on September 30th, 2022 to be considered. All submissions will be responded to. Artists or collectives chosen to participate will be notified by January 15th, 2023.

To Submit please complete the following Google Form.
