Carey West is a vocalist and educator and Ph.D. student researching questions surrounding voice, agency and improvisation at The University of Guelph with the International Institute for Critical Studies in Improvisation (IICSI). She has long been a fan of dance companies who strive to engage communities in creative and unexpected ways, such as Guelph Dance. As a music teacher to young children, Carey believes that dance is the earliest form of musical expression. In past years, Carey has worked with Guelph Dance as a volunteer, performer, and as a teaching artist at Arts Explosion Camp. She’s very proud to now serve as a member of the Board of Directors, where she has the privilege of working with an amazing team of cultural arts presenters.
